Adecco announces its 2018 ‘CEO for One Month’
Kuala Lumpur, 30 May 2018: Adecco Malaysia, the nation’s leading provider of HR solutions, announced 25-year-old Wu Daniel as their new ‘CEO for One Month’.
Daniel is amongst the 47 outstanding future leaders chosen from over 200,000 applicants to be Adecco’s ‘CEO for One Month’ in their respective countries. He will work alongside Raj Kumar, Adecco Malaysia’s Country Manager, the firm’s leadership teams, gaining invaluable job experience along the way.
Youth unemployment rates are double than the average in most countries, with a lack of required skills and the shortcomings of traditional education often cited by would-be employers. The Adecco Group is committed to tackling these challenges through programmes such as ‘CEO for One Month’ and Adecco Way to Work®, which have provided more than 20,000 young people with vocational training since 2015 – including over 140 ‘CEOs for One Month’. The ultimate goal is to impact their lives by preparing them for future employment, and to empower them with the necessary tools to successfully navigate the world of work.
The ‘CEO for One Month’ programme is designed to give young people the hands-on work experience they need to thrive in their careers – offering ‘real-world’ training that cannot be gained in school or university. The number of applications is up 72 percent from 2017, with over 200,000 young professionals competing for the opportunity to shadow the Adecco Group’s CEO Alain Dehaze and the offer of a dream job.
Daniel will go through an intense programme which includes learning about the HR solutions and staffing business, grasp broader management knowledge, finance and marketing principles, being exposed to clients, and having opportunities for public speaking. ‘CEO for One Month’, now in its fifth year, offers an insider’s view of how to manage a multinational with 34,000 employees in 60 territories and revenues of more than 23 billion euros. Initially, the candidates will be selected to shadow the Adecco Group’s country managers in 47 countries for one month. Then 10 finalists are picked for an intensive, global boot camp to select the young leader who will spend a full month living and breathing the life of the global CEO. But the experience does not end there. Many of the finalists go on to careers within the Adecco Group. Last year’s global ‘CEO for One Month’ was Ed Broadhead – now the Adecco Group’s Head of Data Analytics at its Zurich headquarters. Ernesto Lamaina, a former national ‘CEO for One Month’ in Italy, has risen to CEO of Adia, the Adecco Group’s recruitment-on-demand digital brand.
“We’re delighted to welcome Daniel to the Adecco Malaysia team. Having him collaborate with colleagues around the world will provide him with an unbeatable opportunity to boost his skills and confidence and guide him on the way to work. Hopefully, this programme will prove successful in developing the talent pool of the Adecco Group and of our customers”, said Raj.
Daniel said “The selection process was tough but I persevered. It was all about believing myself and getting out of my comfort zone.”
