Post-Pandemic Insights For Future Leaders

Post-Pandemic Insights For Future Leaders

What are the key trends that future leaders need to know to excel in the executive landscape with the working world in the new normal? The skills gap now has widened as remote working, upskilling and progressive hierarchy models are modifying how organisations behave. Here are some of these trends to shine in the executive landscape.

New trust contracts. Remote working will most likely to be a long term trend and this will create an employee-trust contract. Cooperation between remote workers is important and teams should learn how to anchorage the results-driven data against the expenditure to strive for the better. Organisations that enthralled o results-based performance management will lead to the reduced need of face time. Full-spectrum of your employee’s development goals should be motivated for growth mindsets as by sharing and agreeing on your organisation’s vision, trust can be build up.

Traverse the skills gap. Near future, research has shown that there might be a human talent shortage due to unrealised annual revenue that is faltering. This could be an opportunity and also a challenge. Microsoft company for an example has targeted to upskill their workers in AI in the next three years and moving towards automation across all industries.

Reserve and protect cash. Abrupt economic shutdown could obliterate cash flow, slowing the revenue to a dibble at a time when credit line begins to grow less. Leadership should exercise a habit of checking their cash position moving forward and advisable to build up at least a six-month reserve with adjustments according to industries.

Recognise every action as communication. Every action a leader takes whether it’s big or small during the time of crisis send a loud message that shows the organisation values and priorities to every employee and customer. However, this could be a tough decision as they face the need to stop permissive spend, slow recruiting, cut certain costs or even lay off employees. Reintroduce your organisation to your customers, reshape for the new world and communicate through actions and words. In future, you might speak to one of your team across the country as they say hello to customers, maybe face-to-face without a handshake. What will be your words to them? How do you convey the message that the company is ready for the future? Or even when you are leading a conference call with your team, trying to rest assure them that everything will be alright. Indefinitely, you will need to start every conversation by checking the safety of your people!

Flat hierarchy theory. The 4th industrial revolution is an umbrella term for the obscuring boundaries between digitised and human landscape. You should also perceive how it’s altering traditional hierarchy models. Flatter hierarchies have become popular these days because there are fewer levels between management and other team members are able to involve actively with less time and resources spent on supervision. This also adjuncts the remote working environment and encourage the intrapreneurial spirit.
